Welcome back to my blog! Today, I will be doing The Christmas Song Book Tag! I saw this on Hailey in Bookland’s channel and it seemed like a fun tag to do!
Let’s get started!
“You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch”
Name a villainous character you couldn’t help but love
I would say Holland from A Darker Shade of Magic. I found his character very interesting, and I wanted to learn more about him. I loved getting to know more about him as the series progressed. He was a well-written morally grey character that captured my attention from the start. I would love if we got a book focusing on him because I find that would be a compelling read for sure.
“All I Want for Christmas is You”
Which book to you most hope to see under your Christmas tree?
This is a shameless self-promo, but if you didn’t check out my last post, I talked about some of the books I wanted for Christmas. Out of all the books I listed, the one I’m excited to get my hands on the most is Our Violent Delights by Chloe Gong. I have been so excited for the final book in this series. I’m excited to see where the series goes from Our Violent Delights.
“Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”
Name a character that overcomes major obstacles and learns to believe in themselves
I would say Bree Mathews from Legendborn. She faced so much discrimination while working through the grief from her mother’s death. She gained confidence and didn’t allow hatred to hold her back. Her story was absolutely a joy to follow, and I can’t wait to see more of her story.
“Santa Claus is Coming to Town”
Which character do you think would be on the top of the naughty and nice list?
It took me a bit to figure out who would be at the top of the nice list. There are so many amazing characters that would be on the nice list, but I kept thinking who is the top. I decided that would be August from This Savage Song. He was considered a monster, but he was never one truly. He never did any monstrous acts and always acted from the kindness of his heart. He would never kill, but only if it was the only option.
The commandant from An Ember in the Ashes would be on the top. I despised her so much. She was such a horrible woman and committed such horrible crimes.
“Frosty the Snowman”
Which book just melts your heart
We have a tie on this one. I could not pick between these two books because they both capture my heartstrings. Words in Deep Blue were full of so many raw emotions. You could feel for the characters and wanted to be there for them. Many sweet moments just warmed my heart. With the Fire on High was a powerful book that has stuck with me. Our main character deals with many hardships, but she pushes through them with her support system. There are so many sweet moments between the characters that made me smile.
Choose a book that takes place in a country other than your own
The first one that came to me was Blood Like Magic. It takes place in Canada, which I have never been to before. This book was enjoyable to read with the mixture of magic and technology, and fun characters to follow their stories. If you haven’t picked it up, please do!
“It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”
Which holiday themed book do you use to spread the Christmas joy?
I have never read a holiday-themed book. Due to this, I can’t answer this question well. Hopefully, I’ll read one in the future, and then I can answer this question.
Which fictional character would you choose to spend the holidays with (doesn’t have to be a love interest!)
There are so many great characters I can think of choosing. While the question says which ONE fictional character, I would pick three. These three characters cannot be separated and are even better together. I would select Enrique, Zofia, and Hypnos from The Gilded Wolves. Together they have such a great time, and you can tell they care about one another so much. Many times, I wish that I were there too.
“Baby it’s Cold Outside”
Which book that you didn’t like would you sacrifice to a fire to warm yourself up in the cold?
It took me mere seconds to come up with an answer for this prompt. I would say any problematic book that exists.
“Do you hear what I hear”
Which book do you think everyone should read?
I would choose The Hate U Give By Angie Thomas.
This book is not afraid to rip into serious and heartbreaking subjects. This book is inspired by the BlackLivesMatter Movement. It dives into problems such as the shootings of unarmed black people by police officers, and racial bias in the justice system that still exists in the world today. It is such a powerful book that even after reading it you won’t forget. It carries such powerful messages about racism in Today’s world but also how important family is.
Anyone who wants to do this!
